Recovery After Vein Treatments: What to Expect?

Vein treatments today are more advanced than ever before. At L.A. Vein Center, the safest and most advanced vein treatments available are provided by board-certified vascular and general surgeon Dr. Larisse Lee. Both spider veins and varicose veins are treated every day at L.A. Vein Center, and there are a variety of treatment options. All vein treatment options at L.A. Vein Center are minimally invasive and therefore require far less recovery time than old fashioned invasive vein surgeries. Here are the recovery guidelines for vein reduction and removal treatments today.

The Day of Your Vein Treatment

Vein treatments like sclerotherapy, radiofrequency ablation, vein ultrasounds, and microphlebectomy are all performed on site at L.A. Vein Center. You’ll generally need no extensive preparation for your procedure, and Dr. Lee will advise you if you need to plan ahead by arranging a friend or family member to take you home after the procedure. Most vein procedures take anywhere from half an hour to a couple of hours to complete, depending on the specific issue and the complexity of the vein problem. Once your treatment is over, you’ll have a brief rest period, and you can then return home.

Most patients who have procedures like sclerotherapy, radiofrequency ablation, vein ultrasounds, or microphlebectomy will wear compression stockings home after their procedure. It’s important that you continue to wear compression stockings for as long as advised — this usually means that you’ll wear them daily until your follow-up with Dr. Lee. Be sure to elevate your legs regularly when resting at home, but don’t hesitate to be active and move around as much as possible. This helps restore proper circulation. The majority of vein procedure patients have very minimal discomfort or pain after their procedure, but either over the counter medications or prescription medications provided by Dr. Lee can be used if needed. In most cases, patients are back to work within just a few days. Recovery is generally quite simple and problem free!
