Belotero is the latest, most advanced form of dermal filler available today. It has a unique ability to integrate with the tissues of your skin, providing volume and a more youthful shape to your face. Belotero can reduce lines and wrinkles while enhancing your own facial contours.
As we get older, our skin’s production of the substances that keep it moisturized and supple begins to slow, resulting in an increase in wrinkles and lines. But Belotero is a dermal filler that incorporates one of these natural substances, hyaluronic acid (HA), to help you achieve smoother, more youthful looking skin once again.
In clinical studies of Belotero, 97 percent of patients showed a visible improvement after a single treatment. Belotero can eliminate even the finest of lines. Belotero injections plump the skin subtly and evenly so patients appear relaxed and refreshed without looking like they have a noticeable implant.
There are different formulations of Belotero available, making it ideal to improve a wide variety of skin issues. This filler can treat frown lines between the eyebrows, periorbital lines (crow’s feet), nasolabial folds from the nose to the corners of the mouth, perioral lines and marionette lines from the corners of the mouth to the jaw. In addition, it can round the cheekbones, plump the lips, restore softness to the hands and more.
The quick and nearly painless procedure at our Los Angeles clinic typically takes 20 minutes and most people can return to work immediately afterward. The results of Belotero treatment are not permanent and vary by individual. For most patients, the effects are still visible nine months after an injection. Follow-up treatments are typically done every six to 12 months.
What is Belotero®?
At LA Vein Center, we offer a select few injectable treatments. Dr. Lee has hand-picked our dermal fillers, including Belotero, based on their outstanding performance and safety ratings. Belotero is a hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal filler that is designed to restore facial contours by enhancing tissue volume in specific areas. This line of dermal fillers is made specifically for the correction of moderate to severe lines and wrinkles. They've been found especially useful in the treatment of the very fine lines that develop around the mouth as the skin ages.
Belotero treatments are carefully curated to address the unique concerns that you have. Depending on your needs and desired outcome, your provider may recommend one or more of the following Belotero products:
- Belotero® Soft. This HA dermal filler is designed to smooth fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth, eyes, and forehead. Results can last approximately 12 months.
- Belotero® Lips Contour or Belotero® Lips Shape. These products are made for use within the body of the lips and at the lip border to enhance fullness and definition. Results can last six to 12 months.
- Belotero® Balance. The most well-known of this product line, Belotero Balance fills in moderate to severe lines and wrinkles, including nasolabial folds. Results can last six to 12 months.
- Belotero® Intense. This product is ideal for the correction of deeper lines and creases, including nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Results can last up to 12 months.
- Belotero® Volume. Made for reshaping areas that have lost a significant amount of volume, such as the cheeks, chin, and temples, Belotero Volume is a denser HA filler that can last up to 18 months.
Am I a Good Candidate for Belotero® Injections?
Generally, Belotero products are considered safe for the vast majority of patients. Talk to your provider and let them know if you have a history of severe allergies or suffer from multiple allergies. You may not be a good candidate for Belotero if you have an allergy to gram-positive bacterial proteins like peptidoglycan. This product is approved for adults aged 18 and older and is ideal for people with healthy immune systems. You cannot receive Belotero if you are pregnant or nursing.
What Side Effects Might Occur after Belotero® Injections?
Side effects can occur after any type of injectable treatment. Belotero side effects aren't much unlike other dermal fillers and neuromodulators. These can include:
- Swelling
- Tenderness
- Bruising
- Minor pain
- Itching
These side effects can last as long as one to two weeks. They are typically mild enough to disguise with makeup if needed. There is also a chance that small lumps may form under the skin. This side effect should resolve on its own. If it doesn't, lumps can be dissolved with injections of hyaluronidase. Also, Belotero products are designed in a manner that reduces the risk of lumps.
Additional temporary side effects that are rare but should be mentioned include:
- Dry lips
- Lip numbness
- Headache
- Cold sores
