Exploring Los Angeles Vein Treatment Options

Los Angeles Vein Center offers a number of options for individuals with spider veins, varicose veins and other cosmetic concerns. Some of these options are:

  • Sclerotherapy – Sclerotherapy involves the injection of a sclerosant solution into the affected veins. This type of treatment is appropriate for both spider veins and other veins.
  • Radiofrequency Ablation – During radiofrequency ablation, a thin catheter is inserted into varicose veins. The catheter delivers radiofrequency energy into the vein, causing it to collapse. Your blood is then rerouted into healthier veins.
  • Endovenous Laser Treatment – In endovenous laser treatment, a thin fiber is inserted into the damaged vein through a very small entry point in the skin. The targeted vein is given targeted laser energy, causing the vein to close and seal shut. The veins that are closed are superficial veins that handle less than five percent of the body’s blood flow. The blood is automatically routed to other, healthy veins.
  • Microphlebectomy – Microphlebectomy is suitable for larger varicose veins that won’t respond to other treatments. It involves the removal of affected veins through small needle punctures. Microphlebectomy is a minimally invasive surgical technique used to remove large surface varicose veins. Due to their size, these veins cannot be effectively treated with sclerotherapy. This technique differs dramatically from surgical vein stripping and should not be confused with that procedure. Because only the large surface varicose veins are removed, micro-ambulatory phlebectomy is far less invasive than surgical stripping. Recovery is more rapid, and a majority of patients do not need to interrupt regular activity after microphlebectomy.
